Adapted Parts Cleaners From Redashe Reduce Cleaning Time and Health and Safety Concerns on Pizza Dough Production Line – CS212

THE SITUATION

Several component parts on a customers’ pizza dough production line in Milton Keynes required regular cleaning as they would often become contaminated with the dough mixture. Engineers expressed to their HAYLEY DEXIS contact that the parts cleaning process was time-consuming and involved manual handling of heavy items such as 30kg, 1.2 metre-long mixing augers. This posed a health and safety risk. The size and weight of the mixing augers meant that they were currently cleaned by water being run down them onto the wash area floor below.

THE SOLUTION

HAYLEY DEXIS introduced Redashe to the site who proposed the 1150E and 1800E power wash, top-loading parts cleaners. Both units are made from stainless steel, but would require their control boxes to be modified to meet the hygienic design required. All electrical connections were also upgraded to IP67 standard to make the parts cleaners resistant to the area’s washdown process. To clean the large, mixing augers using the 1800 E unit, a bespoke roll-in, roll-off working platform was designed and manufactured. This would be delivered to the cleaner using a trolley. Once the customisations had been made to the cleaners, the units were delivered to site and plumbed into the hot water supply, where parts can now be cleaned effectively and efficiently.

"ADAPTATIONS WERE MADE TO THE UNITS TO COMPLY WITH HYGIENE REQUIREMENTS AND REMOVE HEALTH & SAFETY ISSUES"

THE RESULT

The engineering team are incredibly satisfied with their new parts cleaners, with the cleaning process shortened significantly. The flexibility that Redashe and the 1150E and 1800E units offered the customer meant that making adaptations to suit the specific requirements were possible. Engineers are now safe in the knowledge that their parts washers are of a hygienic design, to meet stringent cleanliness standards. Thanks to the bespoke working platform and trolley delivered as part of the order, the health and safety risks associated with lifting, moving and cleaning larger components have been removed. Manual handling of the mixing augers is now limited to loading and offloading from the trolley. Following this success at the Milton Keynes production site, the customer has ordered units for two more of its facilities.
