THE SITUATION
A company who design and build machinery for the food processing industry were in the process of designing a new carrot conveyor. Following problems reported by end-users concerning premature bearing failures on previous machines, designers were keen to seek more reliable alternatives. A sales engineer from the local HAYLEY DEXIS branch was invited to visit the site to discuss the project.
THE SOLUTION
HAYLEY DEXIS introduced NTN, who presented their range of SENTINEL bearings to the customer. The LUBSOLID solid lubrication technology that Sentinel Series bearings come with would help prevent the washout of grease from the bearing units, prolonging service life. Using 100% stainless steel and being lubricated with NSF H1-approved food-grade lubricant means the bearings are perfectly suited for use within the food processing application.
After being fully convinced of the benefits of using SENTINEL Series bearings, the customer agreed to substitute the unbranded bearings sourced from the Far East, in their new carrot conveyor machine.
“ THE BEARINGS WILL NO LONGER PREMATURELY FAIL ON THE NEW CARROT CONVEYOR MACHINE"
THE RESULT
The SENTINEL Series bearings will withstand frequent high-pressure washdowns, preventing grease washouts and leakage. This will dramatically improve the reliability of the bearings installed within the new conveyor and protect the long-established good reputation of the machine-building customer. With premature bearing failure no longer an issue, the new machines will save maintenance teams time and money, while ensuring the safety of the carrots being processed for human consumption.
