THE SITUATION
A factory producing sandwiches and ready-to-eat convenience foods for supermarkets and high street retailers was looking to upskill their engineering team. The team included nine staff with different levels of experience, with two being first-year apprentices. Compressed air and pneumatics are used widely across the site, and this was the chosen focus for the training requirement.
THE SOLUTION
The customer contacted their local HAYLEY DEXIS branch in King’s Lynn, and a quote was put together alongside a list of available dates. On the agreed date, the training, approved by the British Fluid Power Association (BFPA), was delivered by the dedicated pneumatics trainer from HAYLEY DEXIS | Fluid Power. A number of key areas were covered during the day, including; basic understanding of pneumatics, controls and control panels, fault finding and diagnosis, circuit diagrams and energy saving opportunities. The course was delivered as a mix of classroom-based teaching and hands-on demonstration.
"THE PARTICIPANTS ALL GAVE POSITIVE FEEDBACK OF HOW THEIR KNOWLEDGE AND CONFIDENCE HAD GROWN AS A RESULT."
THE RESULT
The engineers taking part in the training all provided positive feedback at the end of the session. One comment an attendee provided on the feedback form stated, “I now have much more confidence and a better working understanding of how pneumatics and compressed air systems work.” The cost of the course was significantly less than that quoted by another provider, representing a cost-saving.
