The Situation
A Europe-wide metal recycling company, with over sixty sites in the UK, expressed an interest in actively monitoring the energy consumption of their on-site operations and the health status of their critical assets.
The Solution
HAYLEY 247 DMS DEXIS, specialists in advanced condition-based monitoring solutions, received a call from one of the UK recycling facilities and proposed the Asset Minder platform. The Asset Minder platform uses a gateway network of cutting-edge accelerometers and power meters (via current transformers/ voltage transformers) to provide the data. The system enables the client and HAYLEY 247 DMS DEXIS to remotely monitor these critical assets live, taking a reading every second, and monitoring under true excessive load conditions. After a series of site surveys, the assets were identified and a program agreed to enable quotations to be created.

The Result
The solution is now in-place across multiple sites, providing the relevant staff with data visualisations for both asset health performance and power consumption. Thanks to the enhanced insight, a predictive approach to maintenance has been enabled. This means that unplanned downtime due to a failure within the critical machinery has become a thing of the past for this customer. The solution monitoring the energy consumption and expenditure of the plant has been successful in accurately monitoring and reporting on this. With electricity, gas and even water meters being reported on, the customer has a comprehensive solution. Data is also being pushed via an API link to the customers group platform, giving visibility to more key stakeholders.
