THE SITUATION
A manufacturer of quality chocolate products alerted the team at their local HAYLEY DEXIS branch that they had become concerned about the management of lubricants on-site. On occasion, lubricants had been
required at short notice and either couldn’t be located within the current engineering stores or were found to have exceeded their shelf life, rendering them unusable. This had caused unplanned machinery downtime and loss of revenue for the customer. A date was arranged for HAYLEY DEXIS to come on-site and help in recommending a solution.
THE SOLUTION
During the visit, it was noted that the current engineering stores were impractical for storing lubricants. The stores were generally organised, but a new and specific area was needed for the customers’ lubricant products. A purpose-built cabinet from Rocol was accepted as the best solution. The new cabinet would help to organise lubricants, giving a structure to how the products were stored and managed. Quick stock checks could be made quickly and easily at set intervals, with all products consistently stored in the same, labelled location within the cabinet.

THE RESULT
The new storage unit has made it far easier for engineers and maintenance staff to manage the lubricants used within the factory. Product availability has been dramatically improved, with the downtime risks associated with having no stock of a critical fluid, almost entirely eliminated. Duplication in reordering has also been reduced thanks to the improved visibility of stock levels, reducing the customer’s spend on consumables.
