The Situation
A large pulp processing and papermaking site in the North West of England was experiencing numerous operational challenges with their production line. Several of these issues related to the ongoing maintenance of gearboxes and couplings on site, many of which were coming to the end of their service life or were failing prematurely.
The Solution
The team at the local HAYLEY DEXIS branch in Carlisle received the call for assistance and contacted fellow DEXIS EUROPE member, Lamond & Murray to join them in visiting the customers’ facility. As a specialist gear and gearbox manufacturer and service provider for 100 years, Lamond & Murray were well-placed to offer expert technical advice. A particular 1.5 tonne David Brown gearbox was identified during the complimentary site survey, and it was arranged for this unit to be collected and delivered to Lamond & Murray for a complete overhaul. A full report was generated during the strip and inspection process, and the refurbishment was completed with a quick turnaround.
"THE REFURBISHED GEARBOX NOW RUNS SIGNIFICANTLY MORE EFFICIENTLY AND RELIABLY."
The Result
The customer was thrilled with the work conducted, and the timescales in which the project was completed. The working relationship between the customer, their local HAYLEY DEXIS team and Lamond & Murray has been strengthened by the success of the project, with the refurbished gearbox now running more efficiently and reliably.
As a result, further collaborative projects have been scheduled in the near future. The high prices of spares and new equipment quoted by OEMs have been negated by the services provided by both HAYLEY DEXIS and Lamond & Murray, saving the customer time and money in the maintenance of their production line.
