The Situation
The customer, a leading producer of poultry for European markets, was looking to improve the pump system used for regular cleaning procedures. Maintenance costs for the 25-year-old system were beginning to mount, with its 45kW motors contributing to unnecessarily high electricity costs.
The Solution
HAYLEY DEXIS visited site to conduct a thorough ISO 14414-approved pump audit to understand system specifications and capture values like flow and power consumption. Following the audit, an expert in industrial pumps from HAYLEY DEXIS met with techincal specialists from Grundfos to analyse the findings of the survey. Replacing the current set-up with Grundfos Hydro MPC pumps, equipped with Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), across all five measurable load zones, was recommended. The benefits and potential benefits were presented to the customer, accepted, and a date for installation was set.
"THE IMPROVEMENT HAS TRANSLATED INTO A £6K REDUCTION IN COSTS."
The Result
As a result of updating their pump system, the customer has been able to enjoy a number of benefits. The energy efficiency of the new system is dramatically better than previously, with flow capacity maintained at a much lower level of energy consumption. This improvement has translated into a £6000 yearly reduction in costs. The stability and longevity of the system has also been improved by replacing old equipment with contemporary units. Maintenance issues and their associated costs have been almost completely eliminated as a consequence.
