THE SITUATION
A wastewater treatment plant in the Midlands operates six grit tanks responsible for removing sand, gravel, silt, and other heavy inorganic particles from water, at an early stage of the treatment process. To perform this function, the tanks require multiple Detroiter gearboxes and aerators to operate on a 24/7/365 basis to continuously deal with the incoming sewage. Reliability was a problem on-site, with
the typical service life of the Detroiter gearboxes being only four months. The short lifespan of the units was causing both the frequency of unplanned downtime and maintenance costs to get out of control.
The maintenance team on-site, contacted HAYLEY DEXIS for assistance.
THE SOLUTION
Specialists within the dedicated HAYLEY DEXIS | Drives division arranged a site visit to better understand the issues being faced by the plant and to offer a solution. Soon after the initial visit, a solution
was presented to the customer and the order was placed. This order included.
