Lubricant Surveys
We collaborate with top industrial lubricant manufacturers to provide a comprehensive, survey-based service focused on three key steps to success: inspection, implementation, and monitoring.

Supporting 5S Within Your Organisation with Lubricant Surveys
5S is a methodology of organising workplaces so that work can be performed effectively, efficiently, and safely, and it is a system that has been widely adopted by our customers operating in a diverse cross-section of industries. The five S’s are sort, set in order, shine, standardise, and sustain.
We work with leading industrial lubricant manufacturers to offer a comprehensive survey-based service that centres around three steps to success: inspection, implementation, and monitoring.
The 3 Steps to Success with a Lubricant Survey
Our lubricant surveys are designed to help to set the wheels into motion on enhancing our customers’ selection, usage and maintenance of their industrial lubricant products:
One of our lubrication specialists visits you at your premises to gain an in-depth understanding of your processes and your lubrication requirements. Each of your critical assets, including bearings, gearboxes and hydraulic systems, are inspected. There are four main aims to this inspection process:
- Identify if and where either under-lubrication or over-lubrication may be causing issues.
- Identify unsuitable or under-performing lubricants.
- Establish any points of leakage.
- Establish whether current procedures and schedules on-site are optimal for the products used and the applications they are used within.
A detailed report is created following completion of the inspection element of the lubricant survey. Recommendations are made if any changes are necessary. For example, this may take the form of replacement product(s), more suitable drainage intervals, or an increase/decrease in volumes being advised.
If any recommendations are taken forward as advised, we work closely with you to navigate the implementation process by prioritising an action list that can be worked through in a methodological way. A plan is created that matches asset, lubrication type, required volume, suitable oil sample periods and drain intervals among other useful information, following manufacturer guidance. Clear labelling of products and their applications, identification charts and colour-coded oil jugs can also be incorporated to further integrate a 5S approach.
We can also assist you with implementing:
- Application of greasing
- Scheduled oil changes
- Oil sampling and reporting
- Training of personnel
Oil sampling can be the early warning needed to prevent a catastrophic failure of your machinery and equipment and any subsequent production stoppages. Poor or inconsistent oil sampling often leads to misinterpretation of results.
Our team of experts follow established guidelines for oil sampling, and sample from the same point on every occasion. By ensuring that accurate data is supplied to the laboratory with each sample, the results can be relied upon and used to inform all further decisions on lubricant products within your operation.
Oil analysis can be divided into three categories:
- Analysis of oil properties, including those of the base oil and its additives
- Analysis of contaminants
- Analysis of wear debris from machinery
