The Situation
A Pentair Jung Pumpen industrial pump had failed on a line producing fruit juices at a large factory in South Wales. Production on the line had stopped. A replacement new pump was only available from the OEM on a four-week leadtime.
The Solution
The customer contacted their local HAYLEY DEXIS branch with the urgent requirement for an alternative pump to be sourced from stock or a temporary repair to be carried-out on the failed asset. The most cost-effective and quickest solution was to take the pump away for repair work, and this was arranged immediately.
AS A RESULT OF THE WORK, THE CUSTOMER SAVED ON DOWNTIME COSTS OF AROUND £298,000."
The Result
After just three days, the failed unit had been repaired, returned and recommissioned on-site, bringing production back up to normal levels. As a result of the work, the customer avoided a loss of revenue amounting to around £298,000. The new pump has since been reinstated on the line, and the previously repaired pump sent for a full refurbishment. Once refurbished, this asset will be kept as a spare should any issues arise with the pump again in future.
