A Situation
The customer, an operator of a biomass CHP site in Scotland, had recently had a 30kW electric motor rebuilt. They had began to run into a few problems with the unit, and had discovered that the company used for the rebuild was not ATEX certified. As the motor is used in a potentially explosive environment, this problem needed remedying.
The Solution
The Business Development Manager from the customers’ local HAYLEY DEXIS branch visited the plant to determine requirements, and informed the on site engineer that HAYLEY DEXIS could help by conducting the repair in-house with HAYLEY 247 DEXIS in King’s Lynn. Benefitting from being fully ATEX-approved, the workshop would be able to refurbish and test the motor to the correct standards. The customer was thrilled to hear this, and arranged for the unit to be sent to the workshop.
"THE MOTOR IS NOW ATEX-RATED AND IS THEREFORE SUITABLE FOR THE ENVIRONMENT IT IS DEPLOYED IN."
The Result
Within just five days, the motor had been refurbished, repainted, passed stringent testing, and had arrived back at the biomass plant. The quick turnaround meant that the customer was not without the unit for a long period of time. The cost of the work also came in on budget, with the customer’s expectations exceeded by the quality of the job completed. The motor is now ATEX-rated and is therefore suitable for the environment it is deployed in.
