The Situation
To deal with rejected products during the production process, a manufacturer of roof tiles was having to station an operator on the conveyor to manually remove them from the production line. This was a time-consuming and laborious process as faulty roof tiles were removed by hand on an individual basis. Human error was also leading to faulty tiles not being identified.
The Solution
HAYLEY DEXIS worked with an approved partner to design and build a fully-automated reject station that would be capable of removing rejected roof tiles from the production line. The station would be powered by pneumatic technology and built from heavy-duty materials able to withstand the challenges of the environment.

The Result
The time of the operative previously charged with sorting the rejected tiles has been successfully redistributed, meaning an improved level of productivity. The potential hazards associated with the work, such as strain injuries, have been eradicated with the automated pneumatic system. Rejects can now be taken from the production-line en masse, rather than on an individual basis, meaning production can be scaled-up. The risk of human error affecting the quality of the final output has also been reduced as a result of the solution being in place.
