THE SITUATION

A quarry in Staffordshire producing high-quality ballast products for the construction and rail industries was using hired diesel pump sets for their dewatering process. The hire costs were substantial, and the high consumption of diesel was not aligning with the quarry operator’s ambitious sustainability targets. The Assistant Quarry Manager contacted the local HAYLEY DEXIS branch in Burton Upon Trent, for a solution to these issues.

THE SOLUTION

The local branch team and the experts within the HAYLEY DEXIS | Pumps division, using photographs of the diesel pump set, were able to recommend an electric submersible dewatering pump, from strategic partner, SolidPump. The specifications were validated against the customers’ current pump, with estimated annual energy savings also included on the quote. The new pump is robust with its motor and casing made from rigid cast iron for long-lasting durability. The maximum submersion depth for this pump is greatly increased by the use of a mechanical seal, which is more resistant to high pressure.
