The Situation
The customer processes poultry at a large plant in Norfolk. It had been recognised by the Engineering Supervisor that there were non food-grade greases and hydraulic oils being used across the facility. In some instances, there was a risk that the non-compliant, potentially hazardous lubricants could come into contact with chicken entering the food chain.
The Solution
HAYLEY DEXIS and ROCOL® visited the site and a comprehensive survey was conducted to identify all lubrication products currently in-use, and recommend ROCOL® food safe alternatives. The Engineering Supervisor was very receptive to the changes, and having used ROCOL® products in a previous role, stock and supply of the ROCOL® products was set-up in collaboration with the local HAYLEY DEXIS branch. A stainless steel cabinet was supplied to organise and aid product selection. The full range of technical data sheets were also provided, as well as all allergen statements.
"THERE IS NOW NO DANGER OF PRODUCTS BEING RECALLED, DAMAGING PERCEPTIONS OF THE COMPANY."
The Result
All lubricants on site are now fully audit compliant, with the products guaranteed to meet ISO 21469 manufacturing standards. The previous risks associated with hazardous contamination of products destined for human consumption, have been removed. This means that there is now no danger of products being recalled, damaging perceptions of the company and affecting revenue. Since the use of ROCOL® products began, lubricant consumption has been reduced dramatically, preventing waste and lowering maintenance costs. Storage space required has also seen a reduction. The reliability of equipment has also been improved as a result.
