
The Situation
A failure to a conveyor belt on a main production line had brought the line to a complete standstill. The factory processes large volumes of poultry products in Lincolnshire, with this particular line preparing products for a world-renowned fried chicken restaurant chain.
The Solution
The customer contacted HAYLEY DEXIS after discovering that a direct replacement with the required dimensions would only be available next-day from the OEM, at the very earliest. Thanks to the local stock of power transmission and belting products held by the HAYLEY DEXIS branch in nearby Scunthorpe, an appropriate replacement was on the shelf and ready to go. The order was completed and the belt delivered to site and reinstalled by engineers within the hour.

The Result
The customer was extremely pleased with the speed at which HAYLEY DEXIS was able to support them in their time of need. The onsite Engineering Manager stated that downtime on the affected production line is calculated at a rate of £500 per minute, meaning a twenty-four hour stoppage would have lost the customer £720,000 worth of production. The local branch in Scunthorpe has now guaranteed stock of the conveyor belt for the customer, in case of any problems arising in the future. A date has also been set for the HAYLEY DEXIS team to visit site and help identify all other critical components they can hold stock of to help prevent any further costly downtime.
