Project Overview
A steel fabricator based in Devon was looking to improve the management of its personal protective equipment (PPE) and consumables such as abrasive discs, wiping papers, and grease cartridges.
Scope of Work
A team from the local HAYLEY DEXIS branch in Exeter and a member of the dedicated vending solutions team attended site and worked with the on-site engineering and maintenance teams to understand their requirements and analyse the inventory that would be passing through the vending machines.
A solution was presented to the customer, involving two multi-kiosk lockers – one with 10 locations, and the other with 20, alongside a carousel-delivery machine. The dispensing of goods from all machines would be controlled by the touch-screen control panel on the master machine.
All machines would utilise the in-house vepoCONNECT platform to manage stock levels, replenishment, and provide secure access to products inside. The solution was implemented by the experienced smartVEND implementation team, and continues to be supported by both the Exeter branch and vending teams in their ongoing use of the technology.
Key Highlights
The customer is now able to better manage its stockholding and the flow of consumable products at its site. Having the products available at the point-of-use has benefitted engineers by reducing walking and wait times and ensured that stock-out scenarios are a thing of the past. On the other side of the coin, over-ordering has also been eliminated, with the onsite purchasing team always having full visibility of stock-levels. This has helped to reduce costs.
