The Situation
A printer within a large packaging manufacturing facility had come to a standstill. The printer was on the sites main production line. The on-site Engineering Manager had identified that the issue was with a Bonfiglioli helical parallel gear unit that had suffered a breakdown, and made the call to the local HAYLEY DEXIS team for assistance on sourcing a replacement.
The Solution
By collaborating with the specialist team at HAYLEY DEXIS | Drives, it was quickly ascertained that a like-for-like replacement would normally only be available from Italy. This would mean a leadtime of around 7-10 days for the customer. Due to HAYLEY DEXIS relationship with leading gearbox manufacturers like Bonfiglioli, and unrivalled stockholding, a new direct replacement in kit form was located. This was quickly built to specification and delivered to the customer within just two hours.

The Result
Thanks to the gearbox stock held by HAYLEY DEXIS and the expertise of the team, an alternative replacement was quickly sourced and built to specification, reducing the downtime suffered by the customer. The cost of the lost production and revenue would have likely reached a total of £325,000 if a Bonfiglioli F-series geared unit was only available from the OEM in Italy. Production was reinstated within a few hours of HAYLEY DEXIS being made aware of the breakdown, and the line has been running as expected ever since.
