The Situation
A major steelworks in South Wales had an urgent requirement for seals for their concast gearbox. The customer had no seal products in stock within their stores and their existing MRO supplier had also been unable to source replacements. The continuous casting process had been at a standstill, with no solution apparent until the local HAYLEY DEXIS team were called.
The Solution
The customer’s local HAYLEY DEXIS branch in Newport answered the call and the seals required were quickly identified, before stock was located at the HAYLEY DEXIS National Distribution Centre. The seals were packaged and shipped via a same-day courier service directly to the responsible engineer’s home address for taking to the steelworks on commencement of his shift.

The Result
The concast machine was soon back up and running, fitted with its new seal products, and production was restored to its previous rate. It has since been acknowledged by the customer that around 24 hours of lost production was saved thanks to the assistance of HAYLEY DEXIS. This equates to around £3m in revenue losses being prevented.
