The Situation
A large bakery based in the South West of England has many SKF split plummer (pillow) block housings installed across their site. After recruiting an influx of new engineers as part of a recent expansion to their operations, the management team were keen to enhance the knowledge and skills of the staff.
The Solution
The on-site HAYLEY DEXIS representative recommended that a training session on the SNL series housings should be held for the new engineers. This recommendation was welcomed by the customer and it was quickly arranged for an experienced trainer from SKF to visit site and deliver the one-day course. The session was delivered as a mixture of classroom-based and hands-on, practical learning, and covered the features and benefits of the SNL plummer block housings, and best practice in terms of installation, lubrication, and maintenance.

The Result
The training session was a success with the engineers all giving positive feedback. The new recruits are now familiar with the SKF split plummer block housings in use at the bakery, and can be more confident when working on or around the units in the future. Due to HAYLEY DEXIS’ long-standing partnership with SKF, the training session could be arranged quickly and scheduled at a convenient time for the business. The course was also offered free of charge for the customer, representing a cost-saving of £1,500.
